“Nevzlin L.B. left the territory of the Russian Federation on 30.07.2003, soon after a case was filed against him over the fact of fraudulent acquisition of shares of the OJSC “Apatit”. The website Prigovor.ru reminds its readers of what happened on July 30, 2003.
On this day 20 years ago, on July 30, 2003, Leonid Nevzlin, the ordering customer of murders and attempted murders committed in the interest of Yukos, fled to Israel. Exactly this date of fleeing is itemized in the ruling on putting the defendant on the wanted list from January 15, 2004, when he was declared wanted for conducting illegal financial operations and committing tax crimes.
“Nevzlin L.B. left the territory of the Russian Federation on 30.07.2003. i.e. soon after the filing of the criminal case No 18/41-03 over the fact of fraudulent acquisition of shares of the OJSC “Apatit” – after the arrest of Lebedev P.L., one of the leaders of the JSC oil company Yukos, after the interrogation of Khodorkovsky M.B.* in the capacity of witness and start of active investigative actions with regard to other episodes of the crimes committed by the leadership of this company”, was pointed out in a document.

However, as it was established by the investigation, Nevzlin L.B., born 1959, was on record not only for economic crimes. It turned out that this “honorable Israeli humanitarian and benefactor” is a serial ordering customer and sponsor of murders and attempted murders.

On August 1, 2008, by the verdict of the Moscow City Court, Nevzlin L.B. was adjudged guilty of ordering a series of murders and attempted murders. “On totality of committed crimes, a final punishment is to be imposed on Nevzlin L.B. in form of life-long sentence in a maximum security facility. The measure of restriction should be the same – placement in custody. The term of servicing of the punishment is to be counted from the moment of his actual apprehension and placement in detention as soon as he will be captured”, is said in the verdict of the Moscow City Court from August 1, 2008, that was passed in absentia.
This verdict, having passed all levels of authority, became final and biding. The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg, having studied a complaint of the ordering customer of murders, came to the conclusions that the verdict had been brought in on the basis of usual set of proofs, and the court in Russia “had no hidden purposes with regard to criminal prosecution” of Nevzlin.
Consequently, the criminal case and the following life-long sentence against the criminal Nevzlin, didn’t raise doubts even of the ECtHR elegized by human rights activists. Apart from that, this decision of the ECtHR together with the rulings of Russian courts give Russia reasons to form once more a set of documents in order to put the fugitive murderer on the international wanted list. Interpol, as it is stated in the rules of procedure of this organization, doesn’t deal with “political cases”. Yet, the decision of the ECtHR points out that there was no “political background” in Nevzlin’s case – Nevzlin simply lied about such “background”.
“That is why, when the world recovers senses, liberate itself from Russophobic toxin and returns to the rules of international law, the billionaire-soultaker Leonid Nevzlin will inevitably be put on the international wanted list, apprehended and transported to Russia for serving his life-time sentence”, notes the website Prigovor.ru.
