State prosecutor read out materials of the case No 2-38/08. An awful series of murders and attempted murders commissioned by the billionaire Leonid Nevzlin. The website Prigovor.ru reminds its readers of what happened on March 19, 2008.
On this day, on March 19 2008, the Moscow City Court entered into the examination of the case No 2-38/08 with regard to Leonid Nevzlin, one of the “main shareholders” of the Oil Company Yukos. The defendant himself was not present on the felon’s dock – after the first interrogation in the Office of the Prosecutor General of Russia, he “understood everything”, and in 2003 escaped to Israel. There he presented himself as a generous sponsor of various important for Israel projects, and, in essence, bought for himself favors of the local establishment, as well as citizenship of Israel, which refuse to extradite the fugitive murderer. That is why Nevzlin was put on all wanted lists, and the proceedings themselves were held in absentia.
According to the materials of the case, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Russia, in 2004, accused Nevzlin in absentia, incriminating him of 11 criminal episodes, connected mainly with murders and attempted murders.
In 1998-2002 members of an organized group killed at the behest of Nevzlin Valentina Korneyeva, the director of the LLC “TD Feniks”. (See also the article “On this day, a woman was shot at the behest of Nevzlin).
In summer 1998, at the direction of Nevzlin, was killed the head of the administration of the town Nefteyugansk Vladimir Petukhov, and his driver, Vyacheslav Kokoshkin, was severely wounded. (See also the article “How was killed the mayor of Nefteyugansk Petukhov”).
Yevgeny Fedotov, the chauffeur of Yevgeny Rybin, the manager of the company “East Petroleum Handelsgez”, was killed in the course of the second attempted murder on Yevgeny Rybin.

The black auto “Volga”, in which there were two body guards and a chauffeur, was blown up, fired upon, and then a “control” grenade was thrown.
Apart from that, according to the materials of the criminal case, a contracted gang of murderers set off an explosion near the apartment of Olga Kostina, adviser of the Moscow mayor, as well as the beating of Viktor Kolesov, an employee of the company “Rosprom”. And, finally, on the behest of the billionaire Nevzlin, were liquidated dangerous witnesses – Sergey and Olga Gorin, who had executed the “killing” assignment of Alexey Pichugin. (See also the article “On this day, Nevzlin was neutralizing witnesses”).
Pichugin, being an employee of the Security service of the Oil Company Yukos, served as middleman, he conveyed instructions of Nevzlin, and handed over money to contract killers. LEONID NEVZLIN, SERIAL PAYMASTER OF MURDERS, LOST “POLITICAL BACKGROUND”
Leonid Nevzlin himself dodged in every possible way and denied all accusations brought against him, asserting that the case had a “political background”. Yet, on August 1, 2008, the Moscow City court adjudged Nevzlin guilty and sentenced him to life-long imprisonment. This ruling of the court came through all instances in Russia – the verdict remained in force. The effort of Nevzlin to challenge this verdict in Strasbourg ended with failure. On January 18, 2022, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), having studied the complaint of Nevzlin, mastermind of murders and attempted murders, came to the conclusion that the presumption of innocence and impartiality of the court had been observed, of the court that had recognized Nevzlin as contractor of murders and attempted murders, and there had been no notorious “political background” in the case at all.
“Having failed in the ECtHR, the fugitive criminal Nevzlin, who for years had kept citizenship of the Russian Federation, decided, still, to organize a cheap Russophobic show – he found nothing cleverer than to declare of his withdrawal from the Russian Federation in Facebook. But even if Nevzlin would eat his Russian passport, he would still, de-jure, only damage the document – for fugitive criminals, according to the law, a withdrawal from citizenship of Russia is possible only after serving out the punishment adjudged by the court. The court adjudged such a punishment in 2008 – life imprisonment. Nevzlin could not challenge it anywhere – neither in Russia, nor in Strasbourg”, notes the website Prigovor.ru.
