On June 26, 1998, together with his accomplice Gennady Tsyhelnik, he shot the mayor of Nefteyugansk, Vladimir Petukhov, with a homemade Borz machine gun. In October 1998, he beat Viktor Kolesov in order to intimidate the managers of the Rosprom company. On November 24, 1998, he shot Yevgeny Rybin, the manager of the East Petroleum company. On March 5, 1999, he participated in the second attack on Yevgeny Rybin.
